Human Hair Wigs for Women

FAQs Frequently Asked Questions

Wigs are a type of hair replacement system designed to cover the full head and provide the wearer with full hair coverage. These hairpieces are typically worn by women given the length, however, men can also wear wigs as well.

Superhairpieces offers a wide range of natural looking, comfortable and durable human hair wigs for women. This includes full lace and lace front women’s wigs in a variety of colors, textures and styles so you have one that exactly suits your needs.

Given that most of our wigs for sale are either full lace wigs or lace front wigs, you may be wondering — which one is better?

Both are similar in that they provide a natural looking front hairline, are easy to install and can last a long time if maintained properly. The differences, however, are that a lace front only provides a natural look in the front hairline while a full lace is natural throughout the hairpiece. However, because of this, full lace wigs for women tend to be more expensive than lace front wigs.

Additionally, full lace wigs may lack the durability of a lace front wig which can utilize a monofilament top for example. So in the end, it all depends on your needs and budget.

  • Choose the right base material/cap for your wig
There are three main base materials in our wigs for sale at Superhairpieces with each having their own unique benefits — lace, skin and monofilament. Although nearly all our women’s wigs use lace in some form (full lace wigs or lace front wigs) which helps provide a natural look for the wearer and is a preferred choice for those with afro-textured hair, there are variations as we offer 100% hand-tied mono top wigs for example. Check out the different types of base materials.

  • Choose the right wig hair color
There are many factors to consider when picking a hair color for your wig. This includes whether the color:
    • Matches with your natural hair color
    • Matches with your skin tone
    • Matches with your eye color
    • Is suitable for your age and much more
You can learn more in our in-depth guide: How to choose a color for your wig.

  • Choose the right size wig for your head
If you want to know whether your head size will fit with an in-stock wig or you simply want a custom-sized wig, you will need to make the following measurements:
    • Circumference of your head
    • Front to nape
    • Ear to ear across forehead

  • Determine the right hair density for your women's wig
Hair density is essentially how many strands of hair you have per square centimeter of your scalp or how thick your hair is. The more strands of hair you have, the higher your hair density.
Choosing the appropriate hair density for your wig depends on a number of factors such as your:
    • Hair color
    • Hair type (Afro-textured, Asian, Caucasian, Hispanic)
    • Age
Women generally tend to have at least medium hair density (110%) even in their sixties and beyond, but everyone is different and unique. For an in-depth guide on all things hair density and how to pick one that is suitable for your women’s wig, you can refer to the below article: How to choose the right hair density for your wig.

While most wigs for women can be attached simply with the silicon strips that come with the hairpiece, others prefer to use adhesives for added security and hold. Additionally, other wig products will need to be purchased in order to maintain and wash your hairpiece. These include:

In some cases, the cost of your wig can be covered by your insurance provider as it can count as a medical expense for those undergoing chemotherapy or alopecia. This mainly depends on the insurance provider or where you are located. It is best to consult with your insurance provider and check if they cover medical wigs.
