Why working from home is the perfect time to try a hair system

Why working from home is the perfect time to try a hair system

Posted by Superhairpieces on May 09, 2022

The COVID-19 pandemic and all the quarantines that came along with it had its fair share of downsides, but also a number of benefits. For many, they got to spend time at home with their families. Some got to try out new hobbies like cooking or running. Working from home also became a huge deal with many companies still adhering to it even now, as restrictions are fully or slowly getting lifted worldwide.

For men dealing with thinning hair, balding or general hair loss, the stay-at-home orders were also a bit of a boon as they no longer had to go outside and worry about the appearance of their hair. And while some employees are returning to the office, many are continuing to work from home. If you are one of them, and you’re interested in getting a full head of hair again, now might be the best time to venture into the world of hair systems!

Why is working from home the best time to try a hairpiece?

If you are dealing with significant hair loss, or even if you have just the slightest amount of thinning hair, it can be a bit of worry if you start wearing a men’s toupee all of a sudden. Imagine you go to work or show up to a place with friends wearing your hair system for the first time. The first thing everyone notices is how you went from your old hairstyle with thinning or balding hair to having a full head of thick, beautiful human hair. Even worse, it becomes the main topic of conversation with all the attention on your head. While your hair getting attention should be the goal for many, the context also matters. It shouldn’t be obvious that you are wearing a hairpiece, but that you have new hair, viewed as your own. After all, not everyone is comfortable answering whether they are wearing a hair system or a wig as it is a dramatic life and image change.

This is why starting your hair system journey while you’re working from home is the most ideal time to do so. You can not only get your first hairpiece ordered, but also start getting used to the learning curve that comes with installing, removing and maintaining it. That way, whenever you are ready to meet people on a regular basis, you’ll at least be well-accustomed to managing your hair system, as well as being equipped in dealing with potential problems like your front hairline lifting or detangling your hair system.

More than anything, the transition period will only be noticeable to you and/or your family members. Speaking of family, even if you are working from home, we would generally recommend telling your family members that you’re going to start wearing a hair system. It’s best to tell the ones closest to you and especially ones who won’t judge you. Working from home helps with the transition period as you’re not meeting as many people, but it’s always nice to have some support and encouragement from your loved ones.

Another benefit of wearing hair systems while you’re working from home is that you don’t need to gradually make the jump to a higher hair density. In general, Superhairpieces recommends starting off with a low density hair system and gradually increasing it as the months go by until you reach your desired hair density — this helps make the transition less noticeable. It’s natural to want as much hair density as possible, but this also comes with the risk of it looking too unnatural or noticeable, especially if you didn’t have that much hair density to begin with. This is why it’s extremely important to choose the right hair density and consider factors like your age.

But when you’re working from home, you can get your desired hair density right away and skip the whole process of starting with a low hair density hair unit. Even if you have a Zoom meeting where people can see your new hair, it won’t be as drastic to the eye compared to if people saw you in person. You can also style your hair in such a way that it doesn’t look too dense or noticeable.

What if you’re returning or are already back in the office?

back to the office

With the above said, there are still many returning to the office or those who are already back. In this scenario, we recommend going with a three-step process of starting with a low hair density system. Let’s say you had about 120% medium hair density before you started dealing with hair loss or that’s your desired density:

 - Start off with a hair system that has 80 to 90% light hair density. One recommendation from us is the super popular M111 thin skin hair system.

 - Wear that system for around two months before making the switch up to a hairpiece that holds 100 to 110% light to medium hair density such as the M101 thin skin hair system.

 - After two months of wear, finally make the switch up to a hair system with your desired 120% medium hair density. We recommend the M104 monofilament French lace front hair system which is ideal for a natural and undetectable hairline.

Once these six months are over, the people surrounding you will be accustomed to your new hair and will simply think your hair was naturally growing back over this period of time. If by chance, someone asks about your new hair volume, you can even go as far as saying your previous hair loss was due to stress or COVID, as that is extremely common with both men and women.

Note: It’s important that your desired hair density suits you. Even if you follow this process, your new hair likely won’t look natural if, for example, you’re opting for 130% hair density while you’re in your fifties.

Other tips for making the transition to a hair system

hair system

The above is highly recommended by Superhairpieces for the smoothest and most seamless transition to a hair system. However, not everyone has the time or budget to buy three new systems in the span of six months. It can certainly be a risk to go from thinning or balding hair to a high density system, but if you’re willing to take that risk, here are some tips:

Get a new hairstyle: Unless you barely have any hair left, it’s certainly worth switching up your hairstyle right before you wear your first hair system. Even better, would be if you can style your hair with multiple hairstyles. This way, when you finally wear your hairpiece, your co-workers or friends will already be used to seeing you with different hairstyles. Recommendations include brushing your hair forward, spiking it up or slicking it back. If you still have some length, consider a ponytail — that way when you wear your hair system or a full cap wig, it will simply be like you’re wearing your hair out.

Grow your beard out: You can also consider growing a beard out. When you’re ready to install your hair system, shave your beard! People are naturally drawn to the face and are more likely to pay attention to your lack of beard than your first day of wearing a hair system. Similarly, if you already have a beard, half the work is done. Just shave it off the same day you wear your new hair.

Switch between glasses and contacts: Like with the previous point, you can also make the switch from wearing glasses to contact lenses and vice-versa. These are small changes, but could make a big difference. The whole point is to make people question what’s different about you and the difference not being your hair.
