Update on the Coronavirus

Posted by Superhairpieces on Aug 03, 2020

We had sent out an email and blog post regarding the Coronavirus a few weeks ago. It has however, come to our attention that there is now new information from the Centers of Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Most of those following this issue have concerns about our products coming from China. We are taking the necessary precautions to ensure there is no transmission from the factory to you.

What is CDC Now saying about the virus?

In the previous blog post, we mentioned that CDC has stated that there were no cases of the virus spreading on surfaces. However, this information has now changed and it is possible for a person to catch the virus by touching object and surfaces that the virus has landed on.

The virus is spread from person-to-person by close contact with one another (within 6 feet) and through respiratory droplets such as coughing or sneezing by someone who is infected. Now, when these “virus-contained” droplets lands on surfaces and objects, transmission of this virus happens when a non-infected person touches the infected object or surface and then touch their own mouth, nose, or eyes. It is very important that hand washing and sanitizing be done on a regular basis as a preventive action.

How long will the Virus stay on objects and surfaces?

In a blog post from Medical News Today, it states that “depending on the matieral & conditions, human coronaviruses can remain infectious from 2 hours to 9 days”

The article goes on to state certain temperatures that the virus is capable of living under and how long it can persist.

  • 4°C or 39.2oF – certain versions can live up to 28 days
  • 30–40°C (86–104°F) – persist for a shorter time

One of their studies show that at room temperature the virus lived on 50% longer than environments with more humidity. Click here to read more on this article.

What does this mean for Superhairpieces?

At the start of this epidemic we have had many clients who were worried about receiving products from China. Since our factory resides in China, one of the major issues we came across were the delays in production.

But since the light of this new information, consumers all over North America have prevented themselves from purchasing any products that originates from China, this also means our client based has been extremely worried receiving our products in the mail.

We completely understand everyone’s concerns and this blog will provide you the necessary information to reassure you that we have taken major precautions to ensure that the spread of this virus is very limited to non-existent.

Our factory is located in a province with 80 million residents and so far only 760 persons were infected by the Coronavirus and 7 cases resulted in death. That is a 1 to 10 million ratio. However, the hairpiece manufacturer center (where most if not all hairpiece factories reside) is in an area within the province that is still considered safe or marked as “safe area“.

What are the preventative actions Superhairpieces is taking?

In our factory, no workers are allowed to come to work if they have symptoms.

  • So far, our factory area has been isolated well, minimizing the risk of exposure to the Corona Virus. The risk for transmission is extremely low at this point.

With our shipping from China, Fedex is our only courier service that ships our products to and from China. They have been taking their own preventative measures as well as precautionary actions.

  • For more information on Fed Ex click here.

In our US office in Florida, will contain all new shipment from China for an 3 extra days to kill all possible virus during the transportation. T

  • We have a sun room in the warehouse with temperatures that reach 30°C (86°F) to kill all possible virus during the transportation.

In our Canada office in Ontario, all transfers from the US will not be shipped until after the 3 day mark in Florida.

  • This would mean longer delay times due to hold and transfer time frames.

Although the chance is very very low. To ensure our employee and our client safety we will continue to hold parcels in delay to have a very minimal chance to any exposure of the virus.

What does this mean for you?

Unfortunately, this means to expect delays.

  • If you are hoping to receive your custom order soon. The delay may actually reach up until May.
  • Consequently will have a short period of shortage with inventory as the factory transitions into working at full capacity again.

Stock up!

  • We still have plenty of stock hair systems to compensate for this delay, so it is best to prepare for this shortage.

In addition, the products our clients receive will have little to no-risk at all to the exposure of the Coronavirus. Between the time the product leaves our factory to when it arrives in the US, there is already a 3 to 4 day time frame.

With the factory and FedEx taking precaution, it will help tremendously to reduce the risk of exposure by the time the hair systems arrive in the US office. At which we will then hold the parcel for another 3 days to take extra preventative measures.

What you can do for a peace of mind after receiving our products?

Here are a few Preventative Tips you can take when you receive our products or from any company.

  1. When you know you are receiving any parcel, ensure you have a designated space for the parcel to be placed on. This is to contain them in one area and avoid spreading the virus to other surfaces.
  2. Once you receive the parcel, do not touch your eyes, nose, and mouth
  3. Wash your hands regularly with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, especially after going to the bathroom; before eating; and after blowing your nose, coughing, or sneezing.
  4. Use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol (Especially, if there is no sink to wash your hands in)
  5. Clean and disinfect spaces frequently
  6. Avoid close contact with people who are sick.
